The present book is an expansion of the "Text-Book of Theoretical Naval Architecture" by E L Attwood, originally published in 1899. The 1931 edition has been extensively revised in co-operation with A J Sims who was recently Professor of Naval Architecture at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich. Many of the chapters have been rewritten and two new chapters, giving basic treatments of the vibration of ships, have been added.
