In this book the author has recalled some of the great names and their contribution to deciphering the remnants of its written languages. The efforts of Champollian, Jaquet and Rawlinson are described but, more importantly, the author explains the methods of deciphering ancient scripts and demonstrates the importance of successful & adequate translation in contributing to our knowledge of the system of government, religion and day-to-day life of these peoples of the past.
