Victor Gollancz, London - first edition ISBN:0297825348, 1999. Hardcover, 7½" x 10", with dust jacket. Ours is an ex-library copy in transpatrent protective covering, with minimal library indentification. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD unclipped dust jacket. Sir Edward Grey, a Liberal English MP for over thirty years (and Foreign Secretary for 11 years), loved to retreat to his Hampshire cottage and commune with nature (he was a celebrated field naturalist). Originally published in 1909 for a small group of twenty friends, his diaries ninety years later are released here incorporating postcards from the time, etchings, and specially commissioned watercolours of flora and fauna described in the text. A truly beautiful book.
