Ray Parer, the subject of this biography, made the first single-engine aircraft flight fom England to Australia - but for Parer it was only part of a lifetime packed with adventure. He was a World War One pilot, gold-miner, charter-flyer over the New Guinea jungles, a pearl-fisher, a small-boat sailor, and packed more escapes into a week than most people have in a lifetime!
