This dissertation embodies the results of researches done by the author in the field of clay mineralogy and ceramics in the period 1940 - 1968. Most of the work was done by the author as a Research Scientist at the Division of Building Research, CSIRO, from 1950-1968. During this period, a year's work in 1961/2 was done at the Pennsylvania State University, State College while the author was visiting Professor of Ceramic Technology. Of the 67 papers submitted, two were mainly written by others, and 5 were contributed equally to by the author and his co-authors, the text of all other papers (60) were prepared essentially by the author alone. With the exception of 4 recent papers, most have been published or were in the course of publication at the time of this compilation. None of the results contained therein has been incorporated in any theses for a degree at another University. [A copy of the 5-page 'Contents' may be made available to interested parties].
