Fifteen b&w photographs, cartoons, several maps, appendices, bibliography, and index. Necessity forced the 'Spotters' Company' on to the stage of war. There was no War Establishment, office procedures or records, yet by 3 February 1942 warning was given of the first raid on Port Moresby. Between them the the spotters rescued or buried more than 200 US and Australian crashed airmen, caring for the injured and arranging safe transport for the others. The Spotters were a most highly decorated singal unit - and deserved every gong!
