This book was subject to a literary scandal (according to Betty Gilderdale). It was awarded 2nd prize in the Ernest Benn Children's Book competition. But it was dicovered that 'the book was taken word for word (with some minor alterations) from 'Half Angel' by an Australian author Barbara Jefferis'.
