The vessel was delivered to The Colonial Government at Port Philip 1856. After only seven years the ship proved to be unfit for Colonial defence. After the Admiralty prevaricated for three years another vessel HMCS 'Nelson' was stationed on loan to the colony. No 1. Commander Lockyer to his Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, transmitting copies of Correspondence with Mr O. W.
