On a winter's day in 1979 an old tramp freighter named Columbianna steamed out of Charleston, South Carolina, bound for the North Sea. She carried a cargo of whiskey, machine guns, refrigerators and other sundry goods, and a crew of 38 seamen- including the author. Christopher Buckley had first shipped out as a deckboy aboard a Norwegian Tramp. Now ten years later, he was returning to the sea aboard this rattle-trap of a ship, this then is the story of this voyage. Mylar protected dust jacket, Illustrated dust jacket. Quarter bound in two tone blue and cream cloth covered end boards. With bookmark eylet punched through end board. Ex Commercial Bank Library. (hardly ever used). Near fine condition. 222pp. 235 mm x 150 mm.
