To protect the merchant ships an armada of two battleships, four aircraft carriers, twelve cruisers and forty destroyers - thus was the value of the cargo. Lying in wait were twenty one German submarines, twenty-three E-Boats and five-hundred and forty enemy aircraft. The ensuing battle is recorded here. Shelf worn.
