Andre Deutsch, London, 1953. Dr Bombard had a theory, that one could survive any length of time whilst castaway at sea. To prove his theory he set out in his little Zodiac rubber boat 'L'Hérétique on a sixty five day voyage from the Canaries to the West Indies. He took no food, water or supplies - save for a small sealed box that remained sealed for the voyage - he lived off the sea. Bombard proved that one can live off the sea, without the normal hardship that one would expect. Mylar covered over tatty dust covers, bound in red cloth covered end boards. Front end paper slightly discoloured. 214pp. 215 mm x 140 mm.
