After graduatind in 1928, she danced with the Kirov Ballet until 1944 when she transferred to the Bolshoi Theater. Her impact on Russian and Western Dance was enormous. She was unforgetable in her roles in "Giselle", "Romeo and Juliet", and "Sleeping Beauty"and others, In 1959, she became the "ballet mistress" for the Bolshoi.
